I’ve always loved picture books.

I could never get over how real their stories felt. The illustrations were alive & created worlds for me. Anything could happen, and I could do anything, be anything, overcome anything.

It then occurred to me that this is the beauty & significance of illustration. They are not only pretty drawings on a page (which they still are) but a way to encourage, instil identity & bring pure wonder to a developing mind. 

I want to harness this feeling of colourful imagination & endless possibility in my own work so that readers, kids & adults alike, can experience the same inspiration. 

I’ve worked closely with primary children for the past 2 1/2 years & have seen firsthand the impact of emotional support through visual storytelling.

I won’t go on about the significance of visual communication and its effects on the emotional development of kids, but think of this: many of us remember our favourite picture book or movie from when we were kids & how it made us feel.

My aim in my illustration career is to be intentional in the message I’m bringing. I want to my work to speak colour, life & hope into every little reader that may come across my work.
